General Description:

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining an exemplary volunteer program to provide a supplementary workforce using volunteers. .

Essential Duties: 

  • Develop strong relationships within the community to foster a positive image such that will make WCH the volunteer organization of choice.
  • Develop and implement processes to efficiently recruit and retain volunteers.
  • Manage volunteer screening (Interview, required background checks, pre-employment testing.)
  • Perform orientation and training for all volunteer staff.
  • Work with management team to develop new volunteer positions.
  • Develop a “Skill based” professional group of volunteers to meet the unique needs of a growing organization.
  • Efficiently manage the documentation process, calendaring and data collection.
  • Manage the coordination of appropriate and meaningful volunteer experiences; assure the positions are productive for WCH.
  • Plan volunteer recognition events and activities within budget.
  • Scheduling volunteers in all departments of WCH.

Qualifications: 

  • Volunteer Management or appropriate related experience.
  • Knowledge of resources in the community.
  • Ability to coordinate events.
  • Demonstrate ability to present effective messages to individuals, groups and the public.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a diverse variety of individuals.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of employees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work activities may include: standing, walking, climbing, sitting, kneeling, and stooping.

  • Ability to work on the phone and computer for at least 30% of the day.

Physical Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions
