General Description
The purchasing agent is responsible for the continual purchasing of goods at reasonable prices while maintaining adequate inventory levels. This includes negotiating with vendors, issuing purchase orders and verifying delivery schedules. This position monitors the departments needs while working to purchasing at the best possible product for the best possible price and delivery expectancy.
Essential Job Duties
- Create POs from supply chain que verifying price and unit of measure
- Purchase products needed via website, email, or phone call to vendor
- Source new products and new vendors as needed
- Unpack and match goods received against purchase orders
- Identify and resolve discrepancies related to inventory
- Maintain inventory records of received goods in CPSI, stamp and send packing slips up to accounting
- Process returns in a timely basis
- Pull and fill department orders in a timely manner
- Maintain open communication with department leads on product availability and ETA
- Restock hospital storage rooms to requested par levels and checks for outdates
- Respond to PO via email from accounting to purchase larger purchases not kept in our inventory
- Understand and practice product standardization
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff
- Follow all hospital policies and procedures
- Ability to perform basic math and conversion of units of measure
- Inventory master update and price changes
- Run orders and supplies to the Hospital and clinics.
- Excellent customer service and multitasking skills.
Other (Non-Essential) Duties
- Knowledge of CPSI to search for products and their item numbers
- Demonstrate professionalism while providing quality customer service.
- Use of hand tools and other devices operated in a warehouse environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Proficient computer experience required
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Organized and detail oriented
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of warehouse in healthcare preferred
- 1-2 years in a hospital environment
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for most of the work day; heavy lifting, must be able to lift packages up to 75 pounds infrequently.
- Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Duties to consist of 40% physical activity and 60% desk work to perform data entry requirements
