General Description
The Lead CMA / RMA assists with daily functions of the Clinic.
CMA's / RMA’s are integral to our clinic/hospital and are responsible for assisting Providers with medical treatment of patients within a patient-centered philosophy.
Essential Job Duties
- Train all new MA’s as part of their orientation. Get them acclimated, situated and comfortable in the clinics.
- Keep MA’s updated and informed on any training opportunities.
- Helps facilitate annual MA skills competency and documents.
- Provides coverage at any of the WCH Clinics during staffing gaps and MA position vacancies.
- Create, maintain, and monitor MA schedule for stocking the exam rooms accordingly.
- Conduct quality control checks of machines and kits as directed.
- Conduct In-House back-office procedure lab tests/Nurse visits when appropriate (Sofia, Glucose, INR and UA dips).
- Assist providers as needed.
- Assist MA’s as needed.
- Take vital signs.
- Documentation in EHR, past medical history, social history, surgery history, immunizations, and medication reconciliation.
- Prepare patient for exam.
- Administer medication/injections.
- E-scribe prescriptions to pharmacy.
- Maintenance of equipment and making recommendations for medical equipment as needed to Supervisor.
- Update ordering list with any needed supplies and medications.
- Oversee inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
- Assist in chart documentation for quality purposed to ensure that provider coding and documentation matching.Verify lab orders/ requisitions.
- Open tickets for Information assistance.
- Open and close the clinic Office as necessary.
- Assist with administrative assignments as needed.
- The lead for the VFC Program for the Clinic and the main go-to person for assistance with vaccinations.
Other (Non-Essential) Duties
- Other duties as directed by Practice Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- Currently a Certified Medical Assistant, CMA or Registered MA.
- 6 months or more of recent experience working in a provider’s office.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain accurate records with attention to detail.
- Function in a team environment with courteous, compassionate, and respectful treatment of patients and other team members.
- Good organizational skills.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Being able to work at fast pace, Multitasking, Lots of walking.
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
