General Description 

The Clinic Nurse in our Rural Health Clinics will provide care to patients at our fast-paced medical clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring patient health, providing treatments, administering medications, and educating patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. Additionally, the Clinic Nurse will work closely with the medical staff and Medical Assistants to ensure quality care is provided to all patients.

Essential Job Duties 

  • Provide nurse visits to include, but not limited to allergy injections, Blood pressure checks, suture removal, catheter changes, wound care, ear lavages, medication injections such as but not limited to Kenalog, testosterone, Depo Medrol, B12.
  • Maintains medication room with inventory, ordering medications, daily counts and regulatory compliance with documentation.
  • Triage calls for the rural health clinic
  • Manages the Vaccines for Children program
  • Manages INR program and Coumadin Clinic
  • Manages the Allergy Clinic
  • Maintains and manages the Drug Sample Inventory. Follows policy to document and record all inbound and outbound drug samples.
  • Orders supplies for primary and Surgical clinics. Maintains inventory and expiration dates of products.
  • Schedules vendor meetings and in-services for staff.
  • Reviews and educates with their discharge instructions and care plans.
  • Transports patients to ED as necessary.
  • Supports the Surgical clinic and MA staff when needed.
  • Participates in providing total clinic and hospital services in the interest of the patient.
  • Assists families in achieving healthy, safe living for all age groups by giving instructions and guidance in the basic principles relating to accident prevention, communicable disease control, nutrition, child growth and development, and physical and emotional fitness.
  • Provides training and assists with competency checks for clinical staff.
  • Provides coverage at any of the WCH Clinics during staffing gaps and MA position shortages
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Other (Non-Essential) Duties 

  • Participates in community outreaches and community events.
  • Provides services through the Mobile Clinic in various remote locations
  • Other duties as directed by Medical Practice Manager

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Licensed Registered Nurse with the state of Arizona.
  • 5 years or more of recent experience working in a multi-disciplinary primary care clinic
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records with attention to detail.
  • Function in a team environment with courteous, compassionate and respectful treatment of patients and other team members.
  • Good organizational skills.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions 

  • Being able to work at fast pace, Multitasking, Lots of walking.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
