Job Description

Wickenburg Community Hospital is a non-profit Critical Access Hospital. The Biller/Collector is responsible for all patient balances being collected in a timely manner and answering patient questions regarding their bills.

  • Answers incoming phone calls
  • Makes calls on accounts with overdue patient balances
  • Responds to patient inquires in a timely manner
  • Sends patient statements and collection letters
  • Sets up payment plans and follows up on them
  • Works with other collectors pertaining to insurance problems
  • Follows up on return mail for bad addresses
  • Assigns accounts to collection agency as necessary
  • Responsible for keeping self-pay accounts receivable under 10% at 120 days
  • Follows collection policies and procedures
  • Maintain notes in patient accounts for all actions taken
  • Review AHCCCS website for patient eligibility
  • Works as a team member within the business office
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor



Skills / Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have one or more years of working experience with medical insurance and medical claims processing in a medical setting
  • Knowledge of Medicare, AHCCCS and Commercial Insurances
  • ICD 10, CPT Coding, and Medical Terminology helpful
  • Computer literate with Windows Basics, experience with EHR and Electronic billing practices
  • Professional Appearance and Conduct
